Dr. Katherine Quesenberry MPH, ABVP Avian and Exotic Medicine

Dr. Quesenberry is the Service Head of the Avian and Exotic Pet Service at the Animal Medical Center in New York, NY. She graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Georgia in 1981 and completed an internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at the Animal Medical Center in 1982 and a residency in Wildlife and Zoological Medicine at the University of Florida in 1984.  Dr. Quesenberry then returned to the AMC and established the Avian and Exotic Pet Service. Dr. Quesenberry completed a Masters in Public Health Yale University School of Public Health in 2006. Dr. Quesenberry is the Scientific Editor of the Journal of Avian Medicine and Surgery for the Association of Avian Veterinarians, a position she has held since 1994. She is co-editor of Ferrets, Rabbits, and Rodents: Clinical Medicine and Surgery, published by Elsevier, which is a best seller in veterinary medicine and is now going into its 4th edition. She was a co-editor of Avian Medicine and Surgery, also published by Elsevier.  Dr. Quesenberry is on the Editorial Board and is a contributing editor of the Merck Veterinary Manual.  Her professional interests include all aspects of exotic pet medicine as well as veterinary infection control, and she is head of the AMC Hospital Infection Control Committee. Dr. Quesenberry has trained more than 17 residents and specialty interns and taught hundreds of small animal rotating interns in exotic pet medicine and surgery at the AMC.

Dr. Heidi Hoefer ABVP Avian and Exotic Medicine

Dr. Heidi Hoefer is a 1987 graduate of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and has been practicing avian and exotic medicine exclusively since 1988.  Following a small animal internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York, Dr. Hoefer completed a residency in avian and exotic pet medicine and surgery in 1990 and remained as a staff member in the department for 7 years.  Dr. Hoefer became board certified in avian practice through the ABVP in 1993, part of the first group achieving avian certification.

After 10 years at the AMC, Dr. Hoefer moved to private practice where she is the owner of Island Exotic Veterinary Care, Long Island’s first all-exotic animal clinic.  She is an adjunct professor of Special Species at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and has had a long career lecturing to both students and veterinarians locally, nationally and internationally.

If you can cancel within 30 days, you may transfer the registration fee to another destination seminar. Refunds or registration transfers are not available once a seminar begins.
